Doctors8217; stir continues
The indefinite strike launched by resident doctors attached to the New Civil Hospital to press for withdrawal of the order on evening OPD entered the sixth day on Friday.

The Junior Doctors8217; Association is in no mood to withdraw the stir and has rejected the compromise formula suggested by the district collector at a meeting he had with them along with the hospital in-charge superintendent Khadija Saifee on Friday.

Cyclone donation
The staff of Birla Cellulosic Kharuch in Bharuch district have donated their one-day8217;s salary towards the cyclone-affected families of Saurashtra and Kutch. A cheque will be handed to district collector.

Vapi-based Gujarat Apar Polymers Limited have also donated their one-day salary towards the cause. Meanwhile, office-bearers of the Ankleshwar Industries Association have appealed all the industries to donate one-day8217;s salary to the Chief Minister8217;s Relief fund.

Meditation camp
A Meditation Shibir8217; will be held at Kadakia College in Ankleshwar from July 2 to 13. The shibir8217;, only for men, will be conducted by Bachubhai Shah of Navsari. Those interested should contact Jagdish Gurjar, Principal of the college on 55215, or Purnima Shah, Naresh Shah, Mahendra Mahyavanshi and Kantilal in Bharuch.

Arrested
Bhimsinh Kishansinh Rathod of Ankleshwar was arrested on Sunday for contempt of court. He has been externed from Bharuch, Narmada, Vadodara and Surat districts and send to Bilimora.

Youth festival
Nearly 50 young men and women participated in a Catholic Youth Festival, organised jointly by the Catholic Church and the Christian Life Communities at the Xavier Hostel Premises recently. Fr Oscar of Surat and Fr John D8217; Mello of Bhestan took part in the festival and adjudged the best posters on the theme Youth Today.8217;

Dies
Management consultant and an office-bearer of Southern Gujarat Chamber of Commerce and Industry SGCCI Navinbhai Raval died of cardiac arrest on Sunday evening. He was 69 and is survived by his wife and two sons. His funeral will be taken out from his Soham bungalow opposite St Xavier8217;s School on the Ghod Dod road on Tuesday. Before taking to consultancy, Raval held senior positions in the Atomic Energy Commission, the Baroda Rayon Corporation and Navin Flourine.

SGCCI meeting
The Southern Gujarat Chamber of Commerce and Industry held its 57 Annual General Meeting and Installation Ceremony at Gandhi Smruti Bhavan on Sunday. FICCI president K K Modi was the chief guest of the function, while outgoing president Prem Sharda announced the names of new members of the managing committee. Vice-president Rajendra Chokhawala took over as the president, while Amarnath Dora was elected the new-vice president.
