
SUDA directive to builders
The Chief Executive Authority of the Surat Urban Development Authority SUDA in a statement issued here on Monday has stated that all builders and architects within SUDA limits must be present along with documented proof of land ownership and official map layout of their proposed buildings at a one-day workshop of the body to be held on May 28. The workshop, from 9 am, will be held at Sultan Nagar near Dumas. The CEA said that the body is planning to embark on a large-scale demolition of illegal structures and all builders need to show proof of their structures before action is taken. The CEO warned that the structures of builders absent at the workshop will be treated as illegal and be demolished.
Industrial meet
A meeting of the Surat District Industrial Working Committee will be held at the collectorate at 4 p.m. on May 27, according to a release issued by the District Industries Centre here on Monday. The progress of bankable schemes aimed at providing loans for unemployed, Prime Minister8217;s Rojgar Yojna and other self-employment schemes will be discussed at the meet and an evaluation of the work of the committee will also be done, the release said.
Workshops held
Simultaneous one-day workshops by the agriculture departments of Surat, Valsad, Navsari and Dangs were held at the respective districts on Sunday, in a bid to effectively control spread of leptospirosis, caused by rodents during and after the monsoon season. Agricultural scientists of the district assembled in Surat, where they deliberated on ways to control the seasonal epidemic, which claimed a number of lives last year. Deputy agriculture director pesticides Dr V R Shah, joint agriculture director, Surat, researchers from the rat control cell of the Junagadh Agricultural University Dr Vyas and others were present for the workshop.

DIC seminar n AS many as 250 unemployed people took part in an industrial seminar organised by the Surat District Industries Centre in the backward Nizar taluka of the district on Sunday. Manager Marketing H P Brahmbhatt and Manager credit D J Valvi explained in details the prime minister8217;s employment guarantee scheme and bankable schemes among other projects.
DIC praised
Speaking at an industrial seminar organised by the District Industries Centre in Uchhal taluka headquarters on Monday, Uchhal MLA Paresh Vasava praised the efforts of the DIC in helping the youth of the taluka. Vasava said the body had helped provide a number of employment opportunities for the youth, many of whom had set up small-scale units .
GEB transfer
Vadodara: The Gujarat Electricity Board GEB has transferred one Singh, deputy engineer to Surat. According to official sources, Singh has been transferred to Ukai power station in a bid to prevent him from tampering with the documents of the departmental inquiry going on against him.
