Function to mark 50th year of library
A function will be held at the Rattanji Ranchhodbhai Desai Dharamshala in the city to mark completion of 50 years of the Katargam Sarvajanik Library. The library, located beside the Katargam bus stand, will complete 50 years on May 10, according to the librarian.

Office-bearers
Dhirubhai Jiyani has been appointed the first president of the newly formed All Gujarat Ratna Kalaakar Mazdoor Union. Vijaybhai Solanki and Jayeshbhai Hirpara have been appointed secretary and treasurer respectively, besides a number of other appointments.

Free polio camp
A free polio surgical camp will be held in the city from May 14 to 21. Noted surgeon Dr Ravindra Babu will conduct the camp at the Shree Ram Hospital opposite Gitanjali Cinema in the Varachha area of the city between 5 pm and 8 pm. Those interested should contact the hospital for details, doctors of the hospital said.

Loans given
The Dangs district administration in a release issued here on Tuesday said that 1319 youth of the district were provided loans, equipment for self- employment and other facilities during the past one year as part of the government schemes for those wanting to set up small scale industries. General manager of the district industries Centre of Valsad district K R Patel, who is also incharge of the Dangs district, said there was an increase in the number of people taking benefits of government schemes in the past one year.

Kindergarten
A meeting of the Dangs District Hill Council, held in the district headquarters Ahwa a couple of days ago, unanimously decided to begin a new kindergarten for tribal children named Eklavya Balmandir from the next academic year. Keeping in tune with the changing world, English would be taught from the kindergarten level itself and a class would be added every year to the school for seven years. President A G Patel of the Dang Hill Council said that the school would be run as a government recognised school without any grants from the government.

Billing service
VADODARA: The Vadodara Telecom District has commissioned a new Billing Service 16608242; which will give information on bill details like outstanding amount, bill details of gross calls, trunk calls, due date of payments among others. Besides, subscribers can also inquire about non-receipt of bills, progress of refund case if any and the telephone numbers of the officials dealing with the billing. Calls on 1660 will not be metered. In case of any difficulty, subscribers may contact the Accounts Officer Telephone Revenue on 311800.

Caught cheating
A total of 29 cases of malpractice were detected during the second day of the FY B Com examinations. Twenty-five students were caught by the vigilance squad when they were exchanging their answer books. The students have been suspended from answering the rest of the examinations.
