
225 Godhra booths declared sensitive
In the Godhra parliamentary constituency, 255 polling booths have been declared sensitive. The sensitive booths fall in Rajgadh 28, Halol 45, Kalol 33, Godhra 52, Shehra 43, Lunavada 31 and Balashinor 23. Election Commission observor Shailendra Agrawal will stay in Godhra till September 7. S C Varsh, another observor who will keep a tab on election expenditures, will also be in Godhra till September 7.
Five suspended
The assistant electoral officer has suspended five employees for not participating in the preparatory programme on electoral arrangements despite being deputed on election duty. The action was taken under the People8217;s Representation Act.
Phones banned
Additional District Magistrate R K Makadia has banned the use of cellular phones within 200 metres of election booths on September 4 and 5. The ban will remain in force in counting centres on October 5 and 7.
Complaints
Twenty Eight ANM staff of Mahavir General Hospital have complained to the municipal commissioner, labour commissioner, and health commissioner against the hospital management for not providing them accommodation which they are reportedly entitled to. In a written representation, ANM staff, who claim they have been working for the last 10 years, said the management has allotted them bachelor8217;s quarters which have no facilities and requested the authorities to take appropriate action.

Vadodara: The city police have asked licenced weapon holders to deposit their arms and ammunition in their respective police stations by 4 p.m. on Thursday. The instructions, according to a notification issued by the police commissioner8217;s office, have been issued in view of the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections.
Case revoked
The Prevention of Black Marketing PBM Act case against Kamlesh Shah, the manager of the Makarpura-based kerosene depot, has been revoked, an official spokesman of the District Supply Office informed on Wednesday. According to the spokesman, Shah had moved the special departmental court of the Union Government of India with an appeal, which in turn revoked the district order.
PAN allotment
People whose applications have been found defective by the Income Tax Department for allotment of Permanent Account Numbers PAN have been requested to contact the Aykar Bhavan Office, Race Course Circle, at the earliest. According to an official release, the persons should contact Room Number 11 of the complex. The release stated that the faults in the applications would be removed and PAN cards issued before September 20.
