Computers for the disabled
The Disabled Welfare Trust of India plans to introduce a one-year computer course for disabled students of the Industrial Training Institute. The first organisation to plan such a course, the DWTI course 8212; covering offset printing, magazine designing and saree designing 8212; is targeted at disabled students, particularly girls, who have cleared their HSC.

SGCCI course
The ladies8217; wing of the Southern Gujarat Chamber of Commerce and Industry has organised a training programme for sales personnel at 10 am on September 12 at the chamber8217;s office. South Gujarat University MBA professor Renuka Garg will deliver a talk on Aspects of Salesmanship8217;. Those interested should register their names at the chamber office before September 7. Admission will be on a first come-first served basis.

Students admitted
The list of students who have been admitted to MA English at various post-graduate centres and at the Department of English, South Gujarat University, for 1999-2000, is displayed on the department notice board. They are advised to pay their fees by August 28.

District contest
The district sports department has organised a competition for woman athletes on September 10 at Nagar Prathamik Shala, No 8 and 9, Majura Gate. The interested should register their names at the coaching centre by 8.30 am on that day. Those who want to participate in a tennis competition should send their nominations to the sports department before August 25. The district-level gymnastic competition will be held at the Sarita Sagar Sankool , near Sardar bridge, Adajan Road, instead of Jivan Bharati High School, as previously announced.

Day8217;s remand
Ahmedabad:
Sessions judge C S Oza has remanded Darshit V Sheth, a traffic Superintendent of the Indian Airlines, in custody for a day. Sheth was arrested in connection with a illegal passport and visa racket. The CBI had also arrested Atul Barot, Police Sub Inspector Immigration, in connection with the same case.

Cheating case
Ramesh Purshottam Patel, a resident of Parth Apartment, Naranpura and a manager in the State Bank of India, Madhavpura branch, claimed that one Sudhir Hiralal Sheth of Ghatlodia, Sangeeta Sudhir Sheth, Bharat Keshavlal Patel, Leelaben Hiralal Sheth and Advocate D V Desai cheated the SBI, Madhavpura branch, of Rs 4.87 lakh. He claimed the six produced fake documents and fake guarantors. The Madhavpura police has registered a complaint.

Boost for Cong
Jaishivsinhji Vaghela Tikabapu of Sanand, along with a thousand supporters, unconditionally joined the Congress at Darbargadh, GPCC vice-president Balubhai Patel said on Sunday. He said Vaghela had won at least 20,000 votes when he had contested earlier from the Viramgam assembly seat. Vaghela would now be helping Manubhai Parmar to garner more votes from the Dhandhuka Lok Sabha constituency, Patel said.

Man killed
A watchman of the R R Paint factory died after some unidentified person hit him with a stone and then stole Rs 4,000 kept in the safe. The person entered through the window. The Balva police have registered a case.

Money stolen
Rasikbhai Gordhanbhai Patel, a resident of Ila Society, Bapunagar, has in a complaint claimed that some unidentified person stole Rs 50,000 kept in the storage space of his scooter. He claimed said the scooter was parked outside his house.
