Pope welcomed
Surat: Adivasi Ekta Sangathan, an organisation of tribal Christians of Surat, has welcomed Pope John Paul II proposed visit to India. In a statement, the Sangathan has stated that tribals have accepted Christianity as their way of life on their free will without force or allurement. They talked about the people who were concerned only about conversions and not about the miseries and starvation tribals had to undergo for thousands of years.

Funds allocated
State Planning Commission Vice-Chairman Surya Kant Acharya after reviewing the implementation of the Bhuria Committee report in Dangs, on Friday, announced that the state government has allocated 17.53 per cent of its total budget for tribal development.. While inviting suggestion for implementation of tribal development programme, Acharya said that the government has sought the involvement of adivasis in the developmental programmes.

BSF camp
Border Security Force state headquarters has organised a five-day recruitment camp from November 18, at 8.30 am at the police parade ground Ahwa, for the posts of constables. Interested candidates must be matriculate, aged between 18 and 22. For ST candidates the minimum height should be 162.5 cm ,whereas for general category the minimum height required is 170 cm.
