Cyclewala’s protest on
The indefinite fast launched by Zehra Cyclewala to protest against the alleged harassment by her Dawoodi Bohra community entered the second day on Tuesday. While Cyclewala has undertaken a token fast, three of her supporters are on a fast unto death since Monday. Vishwa Hindu Parishad, Satya Shodhak Sabha, Gurukul Parivar, Republican Party of India, Congress leader Kanubhai Solanki and president of Private Teachers’ Association Deepak Patel are among organisations/individuals who have extended support to Cyclewala.
Musical night
Hotel Embassy has invited popular television star Shekhar Suman to perform in the city on New Year’s Eve. Entitled Kinetic Event Night, an entertainment programme has been organised on December 31 jointly by the hotel, Gandhi Auto FinCap Limited and Bellpage Packaging Service. Besides Shekhar Suman, pop singer Aditi, choreographer Bunty and models Nethra Raghuraman, Vaibhavi, Kashmira Shah, Preeti Shroff, Monica Bedi and Somal Brahmbhatt, among others, will perform at the function, to be held on the open ground behind the hotel. Tickets will be available from the hotel, Gandhi Auto and Bellpage, according to organisers Paresh and Pushpa Sonarupawala.
