Sub-Inspector served show-cause notice

In a separate case, the city police have issued a show-cause notice to Sub-Inspector Karnail Singh, who was also posted at the Police Lines. While he had told the the department that he had sent the files of six criminal cases to the court, the files were recovered from him, said a police official. This amounted to misconduct. He has been given five days to reply to the notice.

The files related to six separate cases. As many as four cases relate to theft and receiving stolen property, knowing it to be stolen. One of the cases concerns an attempt to commit suicide. The police official said that he did not hand over the files to the Station House Officer of police station south when he was transferred from the police station.
