CHANDIGARH, June 16: As the galloping expenditure is not matched by adequate measures to mobilise resources and to reduce government expenditure, PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry Punjab Committee chairman Amarjit Goyal, in a note, has suggested measures in order to generate funds for development so that the state is transformed into a `Golden Adarsh State’.

The `note’ includes suggestions on enduring a system to ensure optimum revenue receipts through better compliance, government to introduce expenditure reforms and withdraw from non-core sections, public sector undertakings should be made viable through professional management and appropriate pricing policy, sales tax slabs numbering 8 should be reduced to 4 varying 2,4,6 and 8 per cent for essential general and luxury tax in 1997-98 for different commercial vehicles evasion.

He suggested regulatory commission for the expansion and up-gradation of transmission distribution net work. In tourism sector PHDCCI suggests franchising of IV tourist complexes to private sector.
