The Haryana government is waiting for a report from the Election Commission of India, with regard to the alleged misbehaviour of senior IAS officer Dr Harbaksh Singh, OSD Manpower and Employment, who was on election duty in Madhya Pradesh.

Singh has reportedly been withdrawn from the observer duty for alleged misconduct in a drunken state, while on duty in Madhya Pradesh. The Commission had reportedly recalled him from duty.

The EC reportedly took action after the Morena district administration sent a written complaint in this regard. When contacted, Chief Secretary Dharamvir said he had not received any communication from the Commission yet. 8220;I have come to know about the matter only through a media report,8221; he said.

Former Managing Director of Haryana State Industries Infrastructure Development Corporation, Dr Harbaksh Singh was considered very close to the Chautala government. He was instrumental in organising a number of foreign trips of the former Chief Minister Om Prakash Chautala in quest of foreign direct investment.

Singh did not find favour with the Hooda government and has remained sidelined most of the time. Once, he was even suspended by the state government for alleged dereliction of duty, and not attending a meeting chaired by the Chief Minister.

But Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda reinstated him within a week when he came to know that the cause for Singh8217;s absence was because he had been attending to his sick niece.
