PUNE, July 15: “Even the State government has committed a mistake,” Girish Bapat, the ruling party MLA said.
Bapat today crtiticised the civic administration for not conducting a technical scrutiny of the project report for Rs 1,500 crore mega water supply and sewerage augmentation project prepared by Kirloskar Consultants.
The media persons brought to his notice that the Rs 750 crore first phase of the project, undertaken by the PMC in accordance with the report prepared by Kirloskar Consultants, was approved by the State government.
The Government Resolution (GR) issued on 27 May 1998, said that there was no need to conduct a technical scrutiny of the project report as the PMC’s project advisory committee included chief engineer of the Maharashtra Water Supply and Sewerage Corporation.
Bapat said “This was a mistake. We would request the Chief Minister to modify the orders so that a technical scrutiny of the project is carried out”.
