
MUMBAI, August 12: The state government today told the Bombay High Court that as alternate agreement will be made for recovering the cost of construction of 55 flyovers in Mumbai so that the toll charges imposed on transporters will be reduced.
Advocate general C J Sawant made this statement before the division bench of HC consisting of Chief Justice Y K Sabharwal and Justice S H Kapadia in response to various petitions challenging toll charges at the exit and entry points of the city. Advocate Sawant also told court that the state government had stayed its own notification up to September 15, and before that a scheme would be tendered in court.
He also said that before deciding on the toll charges, the government will communicate it to the court. The division bench, after an assurance from the advocate general adjourned the hearing up to September 23.
Earlier, the advocate general had told the court the state government spent crores of rupees on construction of 55 flyovers, and the cost of constructionwould be charged from the users of the bridges.
