One person will henceforth probably be considered more important than H D Deve Gowda or B S Yeddyurappa in Karnataka. After all incoming chief minister Yeddyurappa owes, in some ways, his position to him. We are talking of an astrologer. When the BJP leader learnt about the Union Cabinet’s decision to revoke President’s rule in the state—he was the last to hear of it—he was visiting the Vaishno Devi shrine on the advice of his astrologer. The star gazer had told him that he would indeed become the CM but not on October 3rd, the date he was to have taken over from the JD(S) under the original agreement between the allies. Funnily enough, the same astrologer interprets the stellar prognostications for Deve Gowda and S M Krishna. He had apparently predicted Gowda’s rise to the top post in Delhi even when the Hassan farmer was a nothing in state politics.
