Many senior Congress leaders are anxiously watching the developments in the UPA-Left standoff on the Indo-US nuclear deal. Not least because this affects them personally. Congress President Sonia Gandhi was set to reshuffle the organisational set-up after getting the AK Antony Committee report on June 21. For instance, Ashok Gehlot was to be divested of his charge of Delhi as he would be busy in Assembly elections in Rajasthan. Sonia was also to take a decision on Mukul Wasnik8217;s continuation as general secretary in charge of Rajasthan as his tenure has witnessed increased infighting in the state unit. Wasnik was also under pressure after most of the top Congress leaders from the state boycotted the recent coordination committee meeting in the state. The work load on another general secretary, Margaret Alva, who is in charge of six states, was to be reduced. The Congress President was also expected to take a view on the 8220;one man one post8221; dictum and consider general secretaries Prithviraj Chavan and V Narayanasamy, who are in the Union Council of Ministers. But, so long as the standoff on the nuclear deal continues, these leaders can rest in peace.
