Srinath downs Uppal

The other three semi-finalists are top seed Tom Chicoine of USA, fourth seed Thomas Messmer of Germany and second seed Radim Zitko of the Czech Republic.

While Chicoine got better of his doubles partner Kunj Majmudar USA 7-6 7-3, 6-3 in the match that lasted for one hour 56 minutes, second seed Zitko outplayed an injured Nitin Kirtane of India 6-3, 6-2 in just 55 minutes.

The lanky Messmer, the first-leg finalist and semi-finalist in the second leg, demolished another Pune lad Sandeep Kirtane in 49 minutes, the shortest match of the day. Kirtane lost 6-2, 6-0.

However, it was only Srinath who kept the Indian flag flying with a comprehensive win over Uppal, who had stunned fifth seed Per Thornadtsson of Sweden yesterday.
