As the race to acquire struggling budget carrier SpiceJet is heating up, its chief executive officer Siddhant Sharma has decided to call it a day. Sharma has been with the airline since its inception in 2005.
SpiceJet was initially positioned as a budget airline after a group of shareholders bought the S K Modi-run Modiluft and renamed the airline. Attempts to contact Sharma were unsuccessful; however sources in the airline confirmed the move and said it had nothing to do with the current turmoil in the airline.
