NEW DELHI, June 7: Powered by sterling bowling performances from Oniel Wilson 3 for 29 and Sanjay Dobal 3 for 20 and unbeaten knocks by Yashpal Singh 59 and wicketkeeper-batsman Devender Sharma 36, Sonnet Cricket Club made light work of United India Club, winning by nine wickets to enter the quarterfinals of DDCA Hot Weathertournament at the Ferozeshah Kotla here today.

After restricting to United India Club to 142 in 34.3 overs, Sonnet, who won the toss, reached the target in only 24.1 overs.

Ajay Ratra 37 top-scored for United India Club when they were asked to bat first by Sonnet. None of the other batsmen could face the pace duo of Oniel Wilson and Dobal and surrendered meekly.

Wilson, who opened the innings along with Yashpal Singh, gave Sonnet a flying start by making a quickfire 32 before getting out. But Yashpal and Devender made the required runs in quick time without much hiccup.

In the Hot Weather tournament tomorrow, Inborn Cricketers will take on Little Masters at the Kotla while Chand Khanna Club will meet Sonnet Club at the Palam ground. The latter match will be a quarter-final knock-out game.

Brief scores: United India Club: 142 all out in 34.3 overs Ajay Ratra 37, Avtar Singh 20, Oniel Wilson 3 for 29, Sanjay Dobal 3 for 20. Sonnet: 144 for 1 in 24.1 overs Yashpal Singh 59 not out, Devender Sharma 36 not out, Oniel Wilson 32.
