Close on the heels of her son Rahul Gandhi’s visit to his Amethi Lok Sabha constituency, which created a political controversy, Congress chief Sonia Gandhi would make a trip to her constituency Rae Bareli for two days beginning Friday. This is her first visit to Rae Bareli since her election.Sonia opted for Rae Bareli, leaving Amethi (earlier represented by her) to Rahul. During her visit to the constituency once represented by her mother-in-law late Indira Gandhi, Sonia will interact with people on various issues, such as improving their socio-economic conditions, sources said.She may also visit Krishna Pratap Singh, the party leader who was attacked recently. Expelled Congress MLA Akhilesh Singh’s name figured in an FIR on the attack on Pratap. Akhilesh, an MLA from Rae Bareli Sadar, floated Akhil Bharatiya Congress Dal after expulsion from the Congress when his name figured in a murder case last year. He supports the SP.
