International Music Day is observed on October 1. What do our home-grown musicians have to say about it?

I8217;m performing in a concert to celebrate the International Music Day. For me, as a musician, everyday is special, but it8217;s great that we have such a day, especially since it falls in the beginning of the concert season in India. July to September is a dry period in the India musical scene with fewer concerts and very low audience attendance. So I8217;m very glad that this particular day is celebrated at the beginning of October.

I didn8217;t know October 1 is celebrated as International Music Day. But now that I know, I8217;ll take the day off and use the opportunity to go through all my old music. I8217;ve just shifted to a new house, so I8217;m still filtering out all my CDs. This will be a great time to catch on all the music from the 80s that I8217;ve collected.

I had no idea that October 1 is celebrated as International Music Day. For a musician, everyday is like International Music Day. We don8217;t need a specific day to celebrate music. The importance pf music in my life is the utmost. But it makes sense for other people to celebrate it as a special day, because then it can draw attention to the fact that music is important.

I don8217;t know about International Music Day and personally, it doesn8217;t matter, because I celebrate music every day of my life whether it is singing or listening to music or discovering new music. But I think it8217;s wonderful that other people celebrate it and I think they should use it as an opportunity to explore new kinds of music and discover music from other cultures.

I am not aware of a special day being celebrated as International Music Day. But for me everyday is special as far as music is concerned. I don8217;t know if celebrating this day will help the cause of music. If it8217;s just some commercial stunt to make more money then I don8217;t support it. But if it genuinely gives an opportunity to talented people and if efforts are being made to explore music more deeply, then I think it8217;s a great idea.
