For kids interested in the world of stars and planets, Akashmitra, a group of amateur astronomers based in Pune has organised a workshop on basic astronomy. The two-day workshop for children of classes 7-10 will be held on December 20 from 2 pm to 6.30 pm and December 21 from 10 am to 4 pm. The workshop will include lectures on solar system, stellar system, stars, and origin of the universe, eclipses and telescopes. There will also be a model making session, a quiz and a sky observation session.

Colour it your way
Beauty and panache blended well to define the evening that welcomed the launch of YSL’s new lipstick range, Rouge Volupte at Le Royce on December 12. Among shimmering shades and beauty basics, the invitees which included the crème de la crème of the city attended interactive skin care and beauty session with experts at YSL while also getting an in depth insight into world of Yves Saint Laurent and its premium product range. As in house expert Karen Kingsellers, talked about the various fragrances, highlighters and other cosmetics and their suitability to skin textures and complexions, in house make up artiste Charmaine Rao, apart from fielding questions on make up and skin care demonstrated the YSL technique of applying make up. The new lipstick range comprises 18 shades.

‘Spirit’ual journey
With over 50 varieties of wines from nearly 13 wineries across the country, the two-day wine festival organised by Pune Gourmet Club (PGC) is a real treat for the wine lovers. The festival that began yesterday at the Rohi villa in Koregaon park witnessed a grand galore of wine enthusiasts from the city on day one. What added an extra zing to the flavour of the wine were wine training sessions by master winemakers such as Australian Paul Bailey.

A show named – Cooking with Indian Wine was held by Chef Parag Kanhere. Speaking on the occasion Shankar Narayan, moderator, PGC said, “This is our attempt to provide wineries an even playing field to showcase their wines to consumers. Last year we had a footfall over 1500 people and this year we are expecting the figure to double.” The overall experience for wine enthusiasts was enriching with experts explaining the principles of food and wine pairing, health benefits and principles of the art of tasting wine. Foodies were seen enjoying at food stalls that offered kebabs, sushi, falafel, Cajun chicken and barbeque items.
