Willows, a blue chip residential project and Eco-Towers an office complex were launced by Vascon Engineers in Baner.Willows offers spacious modern apartments designed to be eco friendly and aesthetically pleasing. Speaking at the launch of the sample flat for the project, R Vasudevan MD of Vascon Engineers, 8221; The focus is on providing a green island of luxury and peace with easy reach of Hinjewadi IT Park and the Pune- Mumbai Expressway. Willows boasts amenities such as a terrace garden for each apartment, ample parking space, Piped Cooking Gas, Sewage treatment, Rainwater harvesting and a central solar heated hot water supply. This will ensure a 50 per cent reduction in electricity bills for our customers.8221;

8220;The Baner project consists of four phases. Willows are the first Phase wherein we will have four buildings, having two flats on each floor. These apartments will be 3-4 BHK in nature and we are offering 80 such apartments. These include eight penthouses on the topmost floor,8221; he said. Talking about the uniqueness of the project Vasudevan says, 8220;Total Environment Group, Bangalore has assisted us in designing a terrace garden which would approximately be 200 square feet for each apartment.8221;

He further added that each flat would have an area about 2500-3000 square feet and with the going rate of Rs. 4250 per square feet, would cost approximately 1.2 Crore each. Eco-Towers a 25-storied building on two acre of land will be coming up within a short distance of Willows.

Of Coins and Mohurs
The evening talked about an historian8217;s perspective and a numismatist8217;s take on the recently discovered gold coins in Pune. Giving a review and throwing light on the historical importance of the precious coins, historian Shri Mandar Lavate and numismatist Amol Bankar presented a power point presentation showcasing there deeply researched work on the coins. The two experts enlightened the audience about the finer aspects of the ancient coins. Out of the 847 coins that have been discovered, 813 coins are Venetian Ducats belonging to the period between 1684 to 1764AD while 34 are Mughal and Durrani Mohurs belonging to the period between 1663 and 1764 AD. While the Mughal Mohurs were issued under the regime of rulers like Aurangazeb Alamgir, Shah Alam I, M8217;uin- ud din Farrukhsiyar, Shah Jahan II, Shah Alam II among others, the Venetian Ducats belonged to the time of Francesco Loredano, Peter Grimmani and Marc Anthony to name a few. The experts through their presentation also highlighted the catalogue value and features of each specimen. From very rare valuable nazaranas of the mughal period to the rare coins issued under Ahmad Shah Bahadur, the presentation talked about all. The experts also informed the inquisitive audience that previously also seven hoards of Venetian Ducats have been obtained from different places in Maharashtra including Nashik, Satara and others.

Green dream
Employees of Fujitsu Consulting India along with an NGO, Pune Tree Watch undertook a daylong tree plantation activity on November 22 at Aundh Cantonemnet area. In what was called as an attempt to save the fast depleting green cover, around 60 employees participated. Around 200 saplings of Tamarind, Neem, Gooseberry etc were bought from the PCMC nursery and were planted by the members. The event started at 8 in the morning and went till 3.00 pm.
