Lettering Art
Have you ever thought about getting your portrait done on a typewriter? And before you can even remotely relate the relation between a typewriter and a portrait, you would see a beautiful picture emerging from the roller as Chandrakant Bhide gets to constant tapping of the regular alphabets. Bhide8217;s, a typewriter artist will display his works at the Artype Exhibition at Bal Gandharva Kala Dalan today. While his artistic tryst with the typewriter began at his workplace when one fine day instead of typing telephone contacts in the conventional manner, he made the entire listing in the shape of a telephone, his unusual talent to make drawings on the typewriter has helped him portray the age-old typing machine in a completely different light and carve a niche for himself in the world of art. Getting candid about his art, Bhide says, 8220;Initially I used the letter 8216;x8217; to make the drawings. I made a lot of Ganpati portraits with it. But gradually I improvised on my work and started experimenting with other symbols like /, 8211; and .8221; So, go check it.
