MUMBAI, MARCH 30: Dhruv Sitwala 50 shocked Arvind Savur 60 33-2 in the fourth-round of the AR Dias Open Break billiards Tournament, sponsored by ATM Shipping, at the Catholic Gymkhana, today.

Sitwala, who was trailing, came up with a break of 19 to vanquish his opponent and make the pre-quarter-finals of the competition.

Results

Fourth-round: Nikhil Ootam 18 bt B Aga 10 69-56; J Singaporewala 11 bt Gul Sarkar 7 25-16; Fulchand Bhagwan 22 bt SAD Khan 8 77-35; Dhruv Sitwala 50 bt Arvind Savur 60 33-2.

Third-round: Prakash Khandelwal 12 bt Anthony Pereira 10 76-6; Baga bt Malcolm Andrade 68-30.

Tatas triumph

Tata Sports Club defeated Karnatak Sporting Association 1-0 in the first Karnatak Veterans football league, sponsored by Raja Radio Palace Andheri, at the latter8217;s homeground, today.

The all-important goal was scored by Kalyan Sarkar off a pass by Ganesh Rao.

With this victory, Tatas, who head the table with seven points from three matches,strengthen their chances for a semi-final berth.

Reserve Bank of India stunned Central Railway 2-0 and marred the latter8217;s semi-final hopes. Vilas Soste and Mohan Swamy were the goal-getters.

In yet another encounter of the same competition, Bombay Port Trust held fancied RCF to a goalless draw.

Randell 8216;tricks

A hat-trick by Randell Pereira was the highlight of Maccabi Tel Aviv8217;s Dadar 3-0 victory over Kalina United A, in the final of the GM Sports Club Rink football tournament, sponsored by GM Breweries, at the Nardulla Tank maidan, Prabhadevi. Maccabi had also won the Lourdes Rink competition held at Kalyan recently.

In the match for third place, United Boys Kalina beat Bloomington Red 4-3 via the tie-breaker. Vivek Oberoi, Rajesh Rane, Hycinth Sieira and Vinay Kanchan scored for the winners. Jude Coutinho, Manual D8217;Souza and Agnelo Pereira netted for the losers.

Former International Arthur Pereira presided and gave away the prizes.

Business India beat New India Co-Op. Bank by 68 runs to emerge champions in the D Division of the 24th Thanevaibhav cricket tournament 35-over at the Dadoji Konddev Stadium, Thane.
