Site engineer Mansoor Moiuddin Khan and petty contractor Narsayya Laxman Dhotre were arrested on Friday morning by Bund Garden police. In the afternoon, they were produced in a court at Shivajinagar and released on bail.
Khan and Dhotre were arrested after investigation revealed that their negligence toward safety of the masons and labourers plastering the structure of two decorative arches and the concrete beam atop it resulted in the tragedy which claimed the life of a labourer and injured two seriously on Thursday afternoon, police said. Assistant police inspector Arjun Yadav from Todiwala chowki had lodged an FIR late last evening.
The FIR said the mishap occurred because the site engineer as well as the petty contractor built entire structure without taking any foundation.
