The continuing triangular interaction between Russia, China and India can become a ‘‘useful framework’’ for strengthening regional and global security, in view of the new threats posed by the international terrorism.
This was stated by Alexander Yakovenko, the official spokesman for the Russian Foreign Ministry, as Chinese President Hu Jintao arrived in Moscow, on Monday, for a week-long visit to Russia.
During his visit, Hu will hold summit level-talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin, participate in the summit of the leaders of Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) and then travel to St Petersburg to attend the city’s tercentenary gala ceremonies, on May 30-3, with world leaders, including Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee.
The SCO summit on May 28-29, will consider the organization’s statutory documents, including endorsing an act on councils of heads of state, prime ministers, ministers of external affairs and national coordinators as well as on a SCO secretariat and an executive committee of the regional anti-terrorist body. Currently, Russia, China, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan are the in the group.
