
MUMBAI, JAN 22: Thousands of Sikhs from all over the city attended a grand Kirtan Darbar organised by the Punjab and Sind Bank at the Guru Harkrishen High School in Santacruz W on Saturday evening to commemorate the tercentenary of the birth of the Khalsa Panth.
The event was organised in association with the Department of Culture, Ministry of Culture, Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India.
Highlighting the unique features of this Kirtan Darbar, the zonal manager of the bank M S Sarang said that these darbars are being organised in different parts of the country as part of the tercentenary celebrations.
He said that in this programme, renowned Raagi Jathas of Bhai Jasbir Singh Khalsa Khannewale Bhai Mohinder Pal Singhji Agrawale and the bank8217;s small Ragi Jatha of Bhai Kulwant Singhji sang sacred hymns from the Gurbani to bring into focus the teachings of the great gurus. He added that the bank had already organised a similar Kirtan Darbar at Bangalore and Chennai on December 8 and 12 on this occasion. The chairman and managing director of the bank S S Kohli and other senior executives of the bank were present to welcome the devotees. The Finance Minister of the Punjab Kanwaljit Singh was also invited to the darbar.
NIRANKARI SAMAGAM: AT the opening of the three-day 33rd Annual Nirankari Sant Samagam of Maharashtra on Saturday, Sant Nirankari Baba Hardev Singh has called upon the people to spread harmony in the society and work towards the development and prosperity of mankind. The function was attended by thousands of devotees and delegates of the mission from all over the State, a press-note said.
