Still a doll
So you know that Urmila Matondkar is doing a special role in Chota Chetan. The 3-D film was revamped and she was signed on to add a generous dollop of glamour. But those in the know say that she is not looking all that great.
Her look is a total copy of Michelle Pfeiffer in Batman II but our desi babe apparently cannot carry it off. She has even tried to ride bikes and do a few adventurous stunts but Urmila’s attempt to break away from her glamour image appears to be somewhat of a disaster.
Bald truth
Salman Khan recently celebrated his birthday. He spent his evening drinking at home till really late at night. Then when the traffic eased up he ventured out to a nightclub. Guess age has to catch up with everyone. Even people whose appeal lies in being cute and boyish looking. I saw him on the set of Shashilal Nair’s new film which is meant to be based on 48 Hours, the Hollywood flick. There is nothing wrong in stepping out of the house in just boxers and a T-shirt but we wish that he had done something to conceal his bald patch. The shine on his pate is getting pretty prominent.
Cop clone
Designer Anna Singh is now in charge of Manisha Koirala’s wardrobe. It all began with Grahan where certain scenes required Manisha to wear Jackie’s clothes. Anna, who happens to be Jackie’s designer, was her usual brilliant self. Manisha was totally hooked and named Anna the designer of her choice.
By the way, did you know that Jackie has played a cop in more than 10 films. In Grahan he is playing a similar role for the 11th time. His designer had a tough time giving him a fresh look for this cop flick. She had tired of leather jackets. So, in Grahan, he wears khakis with a khaki shirt and a brown corduroy jacket. May be some of our cops can take a clue or two.
In her honour
Madhuri Dixit is so much like Amitabh Bachchan, it is not funny. They both love to sell themselves as brand names. Now the latest, after the M F Husain chapter, is that the actress will have a theatre named after her in Hyderabad. But just in case this item makes it sound like Mads herself planned this, that is not true. You know how these nice things just happen.
This exhibitor is probably a die-hard fan of hers and is opening a cinema hall for Madhuri buffs.
Prop star
The movie came and went without a whimper. His fall-out with Amitabh Bachchan too is well known. Indra Kumar, post-Ishq, however is moving on with life. He is planning to announce a new film sans the Big B on his birthday — February 9, 1998. Though the cast has not been finalised, it is rumoured that Aamir Khan and Anil Kapoor will play the lead roles in this project. Kapoor sure is getting lucky. He has started getting films along with heroes who are brilliant actors. Like Govinda was the saving grace in Deewana Mastana, here one expects Aamir to prop up Anil Kapoor. But who knows? Anil Kapoor may just strike back.Sing along
Cannot make it in films? Switch to singing. Hey seriously, apni Raageshwari started a trend. After Aankhen she kept waiting for films to fall into her lap but nothing happened. Bollywood didn’t think she was heroine material. So, she shifted careers and started crooning instead. It sure worked. Now just about everybody who’s finding the going tough is hopping on to the bandwagon.
She cut one audio album and now she is all set to come out with a second one. The album in all probability will be called Khatta Meetha and its got something to do with votes and politicians. Is this another Vote for Ghagra coming our way?
