Boys remain boys, after all
The supposedly best Indian hope of the next century was banished to the sidelines. That was no consolation considering the appalling tennis dished out by two other hopefuls in the MTNL Asia Cup at the DTA Complex today. Mustafa Ghouse and Vijay Kannan, turning out for the second string India A8217;, made a hash of the big opportunity to hand over the quarterfinal tie to the Japanese. Jeev joint 27th
Jeev Milkha Singh finished joint 27th in the Dunlop Phoenix Tournament in Japan last week. The Indian star carded rounds of 74, 70, 73 and 69 to aggregate 286 and earned 1,520,000 yen, which was approximately US 15,000. The event was won by Swede Thomas Bjorn who took the title and 40 million yen, equivalent to about US 381,000.
PSB champions
Punjab and Sind Bank PSB overcame defending champions Border Security Force 5-3 via tie-breaker to emerge champions of the 36th Nehru hockey tournament. Both teams were locked 1-1 a the end of regulation period with the goals coming through penalty corners.
