Arun leads Karnataka’s rally
J Arun Kumar blasted his fifth century of the season to nullify to a great extent the 75-run lead Madhya Pradesh took against defending champions Karnataka on the third day of the five-day Ranji Trophy final at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium on Wednesday.

Miandad resigns
Pakistan Cricket Board’s parleys with Richard Pybus, the South African coach are believed to have led to the resignation of Javed Miandad, who was the coach of the team that won the Asian Test championships, the triangular series in India and then the Champions Cup in Sharjah. However, agency reports from Karachi quoting the former Pakistan captain say that he has resigned because of "pressing family commitments".

Lara’s fitness
West Indian captain Brian Lara is struggling to get fit for the start of his team’s cricket World Cup campaign in England next month, hampered by a nagging injury to his right wrist. Lara was ruled out of today’s fifth One-Day International against Australia because of the injury he first suffered when he was struck on the arm during the West Indies’ disastrous tour of South Africa earlier this year.
