Free air passes to Anil Kumble
In appreciation of his world record equalling feat, government today announced ten free tickets each of Air India and Indian Airlines for ace leg-spinner Anil Kumble and two of his family members to visit any place in the country and abroad. Kumble, who became only the second man after England off-spinner Jim Laker to scalp the entire rival squad in a Test innings, claimed 10 wickets for 74 runs to single-handedly clinch a 212-run victory for India against Pakistan in New Delhi.

Baljit Singh Dhillon, who came as a replacement for L Prabhakaran, accounted for both the goals for the home team.
Kanitkar upset
Twenty two-year-old Anuj Gupta of Gujarat stunned second seed Nikhil Kanitkar (Maharashtra) while unfancied Madhur Kalia (Delhi) continued with his victory run as he upset 16th seed B. Kiran Kumar (AI) to storm into the quarterfinals of the Indian Oil Servo 63rd Senior National Badminton Championship in Delhi.
Hard labour
Amidst the euphoria over Anil Kumble’s historic second innings figures of 10 for 74 that helped India beat Pakistan by a 212-run margin in the second Test last evening, the man `responsible’ for preparing the Ferozeshah Kotla pitch was almost forgotten. Radheysham Sharma heaved a sigh of relief at the end of the match, his hard labour over the past 20 days having finally borne fruit.
