New format for TT team event

The Mumbai City District Table Tennis Association has decided that all team championship events will be mixed 8212; men, women, junior boys and girls will be permitted to participate in the team events.

The Association will be organising the Premier Division League team events under the aegis of the Maharashtra State and Table Tennis Federation of India. The tournament will commence from May 4. For details, contact Rusi Crawford on 385 8382 on or before May 3, between 8.45 p.m. and 9.30 p.m.

Bipin Centres tournament

The 13th Bipin Memorial Football Association BMFA Inter-Centre football tournament, co-sponsored by Indian Oil and Worli Sports Club, will be held on Saturday, May 1 and Sunday, May 2 at the Cooperage ground.

Nine teams, seven boys and two girls, will be competing. BMFA will be offering winner and runners-up trophies, apart from prizes for the best player from each of the seven centres 8212; Orlem, Kalina, Borivli, Worli, Parel, Santa Cruz andColaba 8212; in the boys8217; section, and the Borivli-Malad and Andheri-Parel joint teams in the girls8217;.

The individual awards will be chosen by a panel of football experts comprising Dereyk D8217;Souza, Ratnakar Shetty, Kosalraman and Irenio Vaz.

Etambe, Nirmala top seeds

Nagsen Etambe and A Nirmala have been given the pride of place in the open and women8217;s singles, respectively, of the 2nd Late Dilip Kakodkar District Ranking prize-money carrom tournament, sponsored by Saraswat Bank and conducted by Worli Sports Club. The competition will be held from April 29 to May 5.

Champions hockey tourney

The Mumbai Veterans Hockey Association will conduct their 4th city and suburbs champions tourney at the St Andrew8217;s High School ground, Bandra, on April 30. A total of 18 teams will take part in thisyear8217;s tournament, to be played on a knock-out basis.

El Pino to storm Mumbai
