MUMBAI, Aug 25: Fresh from her success at the State Ranking tournament at Kalyan, nine-year-old Sherry Crawford extended her run into the ongoing Bombay YMCA Maharashtra State Ranking Table Tennis Tournament too.
The fourth standard student of the Convent of Jesus and Mary School, Sherry, started off by upstaging top seed Prachiti Joshi in the sub-junior section in a marathon encounter and then signed off by pocketing the title with ease.
While the battle against Prachiti lasted stretched into five games 21-16, 19-21, 22-20, 10-21, 22-20, the summit clash against Aditi Jagannathan found the third seed Sherry sail over in straight games 21-10, 21-13, 21-17.
Aditi8217;s route to the final was laced with an impressive victory over second seed Mugdha Kanade 13-21, 10-21, 23-21, 21-16, 22-20 only to lose out to Sherry.
The sub-junior boys final too was a one sided affair with the 13-year-old Aditya Mahagaonkar defeating Kalpesh Mohite 21-14, 21-11, 21-13 for the title. Mahagaonkar, the eight standard student of Rajhans High School domination in the event could be gauged by the fact that he didn8217;t drop a game from the quarter-final stage.
