MUMBAI, SEPT 24: In a first attack on Shiv Sena cadres after the recent bid on the life of gangster Chhota Rajan at Bangkok, two Chhota Shakeel gang-members fired at Shiv Sena shakha pramukh from ward number 90, Nitin Dicholkar, at around 8 p.m, this evening. The incident occured at a Sena office, located near the Shiv Sagar Fast Food Centre, on Malveeya Road, at Vile Parle (East).
Though Dicholkar managed to make a narrow escape unscathed, one Ramakant Hadkar (65) was killed and another unidentified person was seriously injured in the attack. The injured man has been admitted to the Asha Parekh hospital at Santacruz.
The incident occurred when the Shakeel sharpshooters entered the Sena office and started firing indiscriminately during which the Sena activist escaped from the scene. In a span of one year since the Sena-BJP combine lost power in the state, seven Shiv Sainiks have fallen prey to the Shakeel henchmen and this was the eighth attack.
This incident is expected to raise several eyebrows in view of the decision of Deputy Chief Minister Chagan Bhujbal to withdraw security-cover to 200 local sena leaders, citing dire need of additional deployment of security personnel to maintain security in the city.
