SURAT, Aug 16: A seven year old boy died of fright after his father was manhandled and threatened by an unidentified person on the road near Hirabaug in Varachha Road, a case registered in the Kapodara police station on Monday said.
According to a complaint by Dilip Virji Waghri, a manual labourer residing at Tuwara Compound beside Sargam Complex, Hirabaug in Varachha, he and his son Vipul were sitting on a heap of sand at about 12.45 in the afternoon, when an unidentified person from Sargam Complex came over and demanded to know why they were sitting there.
According to Waghri, the accused 8212; whom he recognised by face but not by name 8212; caught him by his arm, pushed him, shouted at him and asked him to leave the spot.
But the complainant8217;s son who got frightened, after the accused shouted, fell unconscious at the spot.
He was then rushed to the New Civil Hospital, where doctors declared him dead on admission.
Sources at the New Civil Hospital said in the evening that although a post mortem had been conducted, the cause of death had been kept pending. The reason, said doctors, was because primary reports suggested that the boy could be ill.
The body has now been sent to the histo-pathology laboratory, where viscera samples will be tested, whose reports will be available in a fortnight.
Meanwhile, investigating officer ASI C D Parmar, who registered the case under CrPC 174, has begun efforts to trace the accused. Parmar said that Waghri had specified that he worked in Sargam Complex.
