CHANDIGARH, Oct 29: Five Industrial Training Institutes, of Ludhiana, Gurgaon, Solan, Jammu and Chandigarh, have been selected for reorientation of curriculum in order to meet industry needs and increase employment opportunities.This was discussed at a seminar on "Technician Education, Quality Improvement and Resource Generation", organised by the Confederation of Indian Industries here today. The focus was to improve the quality of technician education and deliberate on the progress of Institute Managing Committees in the northern area. It was disclosed that such committees have already been set up with the support of the Directorate General of Employment and Training, Ministry of Labour, Government of India. The committees will be monitored by the steering committees set up under the state secretaries, in charge of vocational training and technical education."Efficiency of any organisation depends directly on how well its work force is trained. The ITI network in India forms an important base for vocational training. While adaptability is the key to success, but skills of the work force continuously need to be upgraded to adapt new technologies," said S. Krishnan, Director General of Employment and Training, Ministry of Labour Government of India.
