
March 29 : The Maharashtra Security Guards Board staged a morcha at Azad Maidan recently to protest the state government8217;s decision to exempt 78 agencies from the 1981 Security Guard Welfare Act and permission to start security agencies in Thane and Mumbai.
The leaders of the board said the government was reversing the policy laid down of security guards board set up by former Chief Minister AR Antulay. The new policy would compromise interests of over 1.5 lakh security guards, said Arjun Rao Hiwale, union general secretary.
