
MUMBAI, FEB 16: Vaibhav Saxena, a student of Fr Agnel, claimed a berth in the Mumbai team for the State championship to be held in Nagpur. He beat Vakil Akhtar to collect seven points in the ninth and concluding round of the Mumbai Division Selection chess meet at Zandu Pharmaceutical Works Canteen, on Wednesday.
N Singarvelan, who made sure of the title on Tuesday, finished with 8.5 points when he held Nitin Nawar of Mumbai Police.
The others to qualify for the State tourney were AS Awate, Rashmin Pulekar, G Balaji, VN Ghate, R Kashelkar, Ketan Boricha and Uday Karandikar.
