
NEW DELHI, APRIL 10: The Supreme Court on Friday extended by three months the interim bail granted to former Bihar chief minister and Rashtriya Janata Dal RJD chief Laloo Prasad Yadav in cases related to the Rs 950-crore fodder scam. The Central Bureau of Investigation CBI, however, has said it will move the apex court for cancellation of his bail.
A three-judge bench comprising Justices G T Nanavati, S P Kurdukar and K T Thomas also extended by three months the interim bail period of former state ministers Vidya Sagar Nishad and Chandradeo Prasad verma, former budget officer Braj Bhusan Prasad, RJD legislator R K Rana and former animal husbandry director Ram Raj Ram and 11 others.
The bench in its common order said, 8220;The bail of the accused will continue under the same terms and conditions for a further period of three months.8221;
The bench had while granting interim bail on January 7 asked the accused to be present in the trial court on each and every hearing and warned the accused not to induceor threaten any of the witnesses in the fodder scam cases.
Appearing for CBI, additional solicitor general C.S. Vaidyanathan submitted that Laloo Prasad Yadav, R K Rana, Braj Bhusan Prasad and Chandradeo Prasad Verma were indulging in delaying tactics in the trial court and their interim bail should be cancelled.
But, the court said CBI needed to file proper applications for the same. Vaidyanathan said it would file them soon. The bench also issued notice to the CBI on the petitions filed by six other persons who are also accused in the fodder scam, and asked the agency to file a reply on it within two weeks. Former Bihar chief minister Jagannath Mishra was granted regular bail by the Supreme Court on December 18.
