SBP strike today

PATIALA, Oct 8: Employees of the State Bank of Patiala will observe a one-day token strike tomorrow, on a call given by the All India State Bank of Patiala Employees Federation, said general secretary of the federation, N K Gaur, here today.

Gaur said that the strike would be held to protest against the quot;anti-bank and anti-employeequot; policies of the bank management. He said that the employees held a massive protest rally today also, outside the head office of the bank.

Pensioners meet: The Punjab Government pensioners have called a special meeting here at the Baradari Gardens, on October 11, to protest the quot;step-motherlyquot; treatment being meted out to them by the state government as far as the recommendations of the pay Commission are concerned.

Harbans Singh Sodhi, unofficial member of the pensioners confederation, said that the pensioners have been compelled to call a meeting to safeguard their interests.
