PANCHKULA, March 30: S. R. Iyer, Deputy Managing Director and Group Executive National Banking, State Bank of India today laid the foundation stone of Bank8217;s Zonal Office at City Centre in Sector-5 here.

Speaking on the occasion, Iyer said this new spacious building would be the administrative office for 130 branches in Haryana, which, besides being the head quarter of many state government undertakings and boards of Haryana, would facilitate the bank to work in more cohesive manner with administrative and state government authorities. It will also ensure the bank8217;s effective participation in all-round faster economic development of the state. Iyer added that this Zonal office is dedicated to Customer Service8217;.

Iyer also donated Rs 6,00,752 to Ludhiana Educational Society for purchase of a school bus for deaf and dumb children. He also donated Rs 2.40 lakh to Shree Rama Sewak Sangh, Ludhiana, for purchase of a computerised eye testing machine for their Hospital8217;s Eye Unit.

Later, Iyer bid farewell to K. K. Narula, Chief General Manager, State Bank of India, Chandigarh Circle, who retired from the SBI after putting in more than 35 years of service in the bank.
