In response to the Delimitation Commission asking Haryana not to go ahead with its plan of carving out Satyamev Puram, Chief Minister Om Prakash Chautala on Saturday said his government stood by it’s decision to create the new district and that it was only a matter of time before it was implemented.
‘‘We have made the district. Now the question is when to implement our decision. If the Delimitation Commission wants us not to implement it before their work finishes, so be it. We will go ahead with it after the Commission finishes it’s work,’’ said Chautala at the President’s Colour Presentation and the 20th Raising Day of National Security Guard at Manesar.
This means that the administrative machinery of Satyamev Puram will not be in place by November 1, as announced earlier.
‘‘The Commission has not stopped Haryana from making the new district. They have only asked the state not to make any administrative changes before their work is over,’’ said Rajya Sabha MP and National Commission for Minorities Chairman Tarlochan Singh who was also present at the function.
On Friday, Chairman of the Commission Justice Kuldip Singh had directed the state government to stall its plans on Satyamev Puram as it would undo the panel’s work which is at a very advanced stage. The chairman said: ‘‘We have informed the Haryana government that we cannot permit them to go ahead with this…The delimitation exercise in Haryana is at a very advanced stage and we hope to complete it in a couple of months. The creation of a new district at this stage would adversely affect our task.’’
