Sarala strikes gold

New Delhi, April 15: Sarala Shetty of Syndicate Bank lifted gold in the 75 kg class with a new Asian record in deadlift 200 kg overall to complete a double and help the Indian women sqaud finish runners-up in the XI Asian Powerlifting Championship which concluded in Seoul yesterday.

With four gold, five silver and four bronze in their kitty, the women8217;s team finished second while men8217;s team with as many as gold and silver medals, were relegated to the third position in the XV Asian Men championship, according to the information received here. In the men8217;s event also, Jentry Fran of Union Bank, Mumbai struck two golds for his team in 52 kg class.
