Sania and Peer defeated Sofia Arvidsson of Sweden and Lilia Osterloh of the USA 7-5, 6-3 in a late first round encounter yesterday.
In a second-round clash, the 16th seeded Indo-Israeli pair will meet Agnes Szavay of Hungary and Vladimira Uhlirova of Czech Republic. Sania will also combine with Mahesh Bhupathi to take on David Skoch of Czech Republic and Janette Husarova of Slovakia in a first round mixed doubles match.
