CHANDIGARH, Dec 3: Sandeep Duggal blanked Deepak Goel 4-0 to win the title in the Open prize money snooker tournament which concluded at Sector 6, Panchkula today. Sandeep became richer by Rs 5,100 while Deepak got Rs 2,100.

Sandeep also got Rs 501 for highest break of 39 points in the meet while VK Sachdeva was given the `best performance’ award.

The score-line of 4-0 does not depict the true spirit in which the match was fought. Both Sandeep and Deepak played an attacking game and had a break of 20 points each in the first frame, which, however, went to Sandeep 70-51.

The second frame, which was also pocketed by Sandeep (69-27), was the turning point for both the players. Sandeep, not only consolidated the lead (2-0) but the win also lifted his morale, which gave him a psychological advantage over Deepak, who tried his best to catch up with his nippy opponent in the succeeding frames.

In the third frame, Deepak came back strongly and hit a break of 36 points while Sandeep had a break of 31 points. But it was simply not Deepak’s day, who lost by one point (65-66).

The fourth frame as expected went to Sandeep (62-52), who hit a break of 23 points, to end the one-hour duel.
