Sacked FCI staff seek reinstatement

CHANDIGARH, March 30: The agitation by the members of the All India F.C.I. Class IV Employees Union, Punjab and Haryana Security Guard and Casual Union entered its eighth day today. The employees who sat in dharna outside the office of the Senior Regional Manager, Haryana, in Sector 17 are demanding reinstatement of the 300-odd sacked employees. Those sacked were earlier appointed as casual workers. They are also demanding a CBI inquiry into the alleged EPA fraud. The employees allege the money was not deposited into their accounts. They are asking for direct payments from the FCI.

Serial condemned
Panchkula: The Valmiki devotees demonstrated before the Punjab Mini-Secretariat here to condemn the quot;wrong depictionquot; of Valmiki in the serial Jai Hanuman on May 5, 1998. They also flayed Punjab CM for failing to fulfill a promise made last July to change the name of Ram Tirth in Amritsar to Valmiki Tirath.
