PORT ELIZABETH SA, JAN 30: Herschelle Gibbs stroked his maiden limited overs century for South Africa who surged to a 99-run victory over West Indies in their fourth one-day match today.
Gibbs spurred South Africa to 278 for six in their 50 overs and West Indies subsequently suffered a shuddering collapse in which their last six wickets tumbled for 27. They were all out for 179 in 41.3 overs.
The touring team were still in contention at 152 for four after 31 overs with Carl Hooper showing imperious form, but when he fell for 57 the South Africans swiftly closed in for the kill to take a 3-1 lead in the seven-match series.
