CHANDIGARH, Aug 19: Sector 35 residents have collected Rs 4,02,814 towards the Army Central Welfare Fund. The amount was handed over to the Adjutant General, Lt Gen S.S. Grewal at Army Headquarters in New Delhi by the Chandigarh Defence Colony Welfare Association, Sector 35, a statement issued here said.

  • Members of G.B.A Workers Union Industrial Area contributed one day wages for providing financial assistance to the families of martyrs. The union president forwarded a sum of Rs 1,05,000 to the fund for the purpose.
  • The officers and staff of the office of the Principal Accountant General, Punjab, have also contributed one day8217;s salary to the National Defence Fund. A bank draft worth Rs 2,20,275 has been sent to the Comptroller and Auditor General for submission to the Prime Minister.
