
VADODARA, May 2: The bhumipoojan ceremony for the Rs 20-lakh Bajwa-Karodia-Gorwa road was performed by Urban Development Minister Kaushik Patel in Bajwa village on Sunday. The road, which is being built by Vadodara Urban Development Authority VUDA, is likely to be completed within three months. When completed, it will reduce the distance between Bajwa and Vadodara by five kilometres.
Speaking on the occasion, Patel said that the bhoomipujan, which came a day after Chief Minister Keshubhai Patel8217;s announcement on Gujarat8217;s foundation day to transform Vadodara into a model district, was a step in that direction.
Patel said that developing villages and providing them with roads, electricity and water was essential to achieve the goal of suraaj'good governance promised by the Bharatiya Janata Party.
Civil Supplies Minister Jaspal Singh said that it was necessary for the BJP government to undertake mass welfare activities in villages in order to retain the confidence of the people who reposed their trust in the party during the last elections.
Giving details of developmental activities planned by VUDA in 104 villages of Vadodara taluka, VUDA chairman K K Shah said that VUDA planned to construct a Rs 52 lakh commercial-cum-residential complex near Gorwa, an overbridge connecting Sama village with Kareliabug, roads in Tarsali village, an underground drainage system in Varnama and Harni villages and develop a Transport Nagar near Harni.
