KOCHI, AUG 10: The three-member panel probing the signal goof-up at Ernakulam South Railway Station last week, submitted its report to the Divisional Railway Manager and Southern Railway Safety Division chairman yesterday.

The commission 8212; comprising Divisional Safety Officer Balachandran, Divisional Signal and Telecommunication Engineer Viswanathan and Divisional Mechanical Engineer Ajay Singh 8212; also stated that the mechanism at the signal point was efficient.

The DRM will submit the report to the top brass of the Southern Railway.

The committee has arrived at the conclusion that the cause of the accident was due to a human error. However, no immediate action is likely against the suspended employees 8212; Assistant Station Master ASM Kesava Panicker, leverman T V Francis and drivers E P Philip and K N Swamidasan.

Action will be initiated only after the departmental inquiry 8212; also known as the Disciplinary and Appeal Rules investigation DR Inquiry 8212; is conducted. The DR inquiry is a long process and would take about two months to conclude the probe. The inquiry will be done by officials in the respective departments.
