
MUMBAI, JANUARY 10: Reliance Industries Ltd today became the third largest producer of paraxylene (PX) in the world after BP-Amoco and Exxon-Mobil with commissioning of third line of its 1.4 million metric tonnes PX plant at its petrochemicals complex at Jamnagar in Gujarat.
The third line of PX of 4,67,000 mta capacity, which was completed ahead of schedule, along with two other operating lines of similar capacity will supply a substantial portion of its output for captive consumption of RIL’s pta manufacturing facilities at Patalganga and Hazira petrochemical complexes, a company statement said here today.
“With this, Reliance’s PX capacity has reached 1.4 million mta,” RIL said. The Reliance group has invested approximately Rs 24,000 crore (US $ 6 billion) in various projects at the Jamnagar complex comprising the refinery, integrated petrochemicals complex, ports.
